THE winner of a Christmas card competition received a visit from the leader of the council.

Callum McGeachie, a pupil at Redwood School, was chosen for Rochdale council leader’s official card after winning a festive design competition.

Coun Allen Brett invited local schools to enter the competition and 14-yearold Callum’s design, which features three festive Christmas trees in a contemporary style, was chosen.

His artwork was made into a professionally printed card as well as an animated electronic card with falling snow. It was sent to hundreds of individuals and organisations across Greater Manchester with Callum’s name and school on.

Coun Brett visited the secondary special school in Rochdale to thank Callum personally and present him with his own Christmas card, a £50 gift voucher and sweet treats for his classmates.

The leader also took a tour of the school, including the recently added extension, and met headteacher Clare John.

“I was very impressed with them all but particularly liked Callum’s design, of a traditional festive scene created in a modern eye catching style.” ●●Calum McGeachie, 14, was chosen for the council leader’s official card after winning a festive design competition; Inset, the winning card
