Consultation on possible children’s play area sites
RESIDENTS will be consulted on three possible sites for a new children’s play area in Whitworth.
Rossendale council have requested community interest company Proffitts work the local community to find a site which will serve the town and attract visitors from outside the area.
Ideas will be sought on designs to cater for ‘as many people as possible’ and could include traditional play, adventure play areas or parkour.
Martin Proffitt, from Proffitt’s, said: “We are really looking forward to working through and identifying the best play site for the people of Whitworth.
“Whitworth is a lovely place to visit offering walks, heritage and wildlife – it would really add to the attraction of Whitworth if we could upgrade the play provision significantly for the benefit of generations of people from Whitworth and attract visitors into the area which would be great for local businesses”.
Councillor Jackie Oakes, portfolio holder for operations, said: “We definitely need more play facilities in Whitworth so I am very happy this project is progressing. I hope as many people as possible give their views so we get it in the right area.”
