PROPOSALS for a new £1.2 million cycling lane system were praised as ‘money well spent’.
Plans for the borough’s biggest cycling infrastructure project gained backing from regional transport bosses.
Almost one kilometre of new cycle lanes are be installed on Manchester Road in Castleton if the £1.2m plans are approved.
The proposal by Rochdale council includes relocating existing road space to allow for better walking and cycling through Castleton, improved links to the town’s railway station and creating new, safer raised road crossings in a number of locations. An audit and governance sub-committee found he had breached the code of conduct but heard he had made unreserved apologies.
Sanctions required the leader to undertake further training relating to the code of conduct and the committee panel will publish its findings on the matter. HUNDREDS of Santas dashed and dawdled around Hollingworth Lake to raise money for a hospice charity - for the second time this year.
Springhill Hospice’s Santa Dash or Dawdle returned and festive fun was had by all.
More than 400 Santas were joined by a few elves and reindeers as they made their way around Hollingworth Lake on December 9 for the annual Christmas fundraising event.
