Funding to reduce loneliness
THE community and voluntary sector will be able to apply for funding to reduce social isolation for older people when applications open in January.
The Connecting You: Development Fund offers grants between £2,000 and £20,000, with a total of £200,000 available to provide short term to help improve the health and wellbeing of Rochdale residents.
The fund, which is managed by Rochdale Borough Council and NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group, targets the specific theme of reducing social isolation for older people.
By 2020 it is estimated there will be 13,500 people over 65 living by themselves in the borough of Rochdale with 12 per cent of people over 65 in England reporting feeling persistently or chronically lonely.
Applicants will be asked to demonstrate how the proposal in their application contributes to reducing social isolation for older people. Applicants can also highlight how their project makes a contribution to:
Future funding rounds will be available in Spring 2019 and Autumn 2019, and the themes will be released at a later date.
