He lived up to his promise to de­liver ‘a daz­zling pro­gramme of sea­sonal mu­sic’ in­clud­ing his own tran­scrip­tions of or­ches­tral favourites by such as Han­del, Vi­valdi, Humperdinck, and Tchaikovsky.

We also heard softer tones in Yon’s Gesu Bam­bino, all per­fectly suited to the town hall in­stru­ment, cul­mi­nat­ing in Jonathan’s own Christ­mas Fan­tasy with its mi­as­mic mix­ture of tunes.

Jonathan Scott is also the Hon­orary Pres­i­dent of ORTOA (Old­ham, Rochdale and Tame­side Or­gan­ists’ As­so­ci­a­tion).

Its se­ries of Rochdale town hall or­gan recitals con­tin­ues with An­thony Hunt of Sal­ford Cathe­dral at noon on Jan­uary 12.
