Nothing to read into team selection

CALVIN Andrew’s omission from the matchday squad on Saturday prompted talk on the terraces of a move to Lincoln City in the pipeline –bt Keith Hill was quick to scupper such talk.

“Regardless of conspiracy theories, the players who weren’t available on Saturday were not available.

“Nobody is pending a move – Calvin Andrew was ill, Aaron Wilbraham is injured, Stephen Dooley injured, Zach Clough injured, Joey Thompson injured.

“We’ve had a little bit of illness in the building and it’s hard – but there are no conspiracy theories going on!”

Hill, who made a pointed gesture of support to his players at half time against Burton in defiance at booing fans, said he understood where the anger came from.

“I understand why there is so much anger,” he said. “It’s a dark day but we are looking for light at the end of the tunnel and there is one, there is a spark at this club and we have to reignite it.”

On recruitment, he added: “We have sold players and got good money for players. David Perkins has gone to Tranmere, Brendan has gone back to the US.

“So it’s left a little bit light and we went with the players we had available.

“We can’t panic when it comes to recruitment.”
