ASTATE-OF-THEART care home has opened providing ‘vital residential and dementia care’.

Barley View, the first purpose-built care home under Whitworth Care, is open for residents moving over from the current home.

The existing Sunny Side care home has now closed after more than 30 years, and residents have moved into the newly built and fully furnished facility for those needing residential care and for those living with dementia.

Barley View is a modern, purpose-built residential care home facility offering compassionate, professional and dignified care in a comfortable and homely setting.

The building was designed and equipped to meet a wide range of needs, the home’s team of experienced care staff work closely with residents and their families to provide a truly person-centred service.

The £3.6 million facility was developed by Calico Homes, built by Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction, and furnished by Calico Interiors.

Arranged over two levels, the 28-bedroom home is split into two 14-bed communities named Willow Lane and Forest Grove and has been carefully created to meet the needs of older people and those living with dementia.

The building, which took 17 months to build, offers residents private bedroom spaces all complete with en-suites.

Barley View also contains an assisted bathroom and an industrial kitchen furbished to a high quality to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to the residents.

The home looks out onto the Whitworth landscape and a garden that is finished with wild flowers and raised flower beds.

Calico Homes’ Garden Maintenance team will take over the space, carrying out maintenance and gardening work.

Suzy Knowles, director at Whitworth Care, said: “We can’t wait to move our current residents in and welcome new residents to their home.

“Barley View is a beautiful building in a lovely setting and we’re sure it will be really well received from both staff and residents.”

She continued: “We’d like to thank all the teams that worked collaboratively together over the process to finish Barley View and bring this amazing facility to people in the local and surrounding communities that may ever need our services.”
