Harsh lesson for U11s

-

A TRY in the dying moments of the match denied Littleborough a brilliant comeback victory against Greater Manchester outfit Stockport.

Sticking it out well in very testing conditions at a miserable Rakewood, both teams played out a warming and pulsating contest.

We saw lots of improvement in Littleborough’s performance from last week as the majority got stuck in with really good, aggressive tackles.

Others were more accustomed to demonstrating their skills with ball in hand.

On numerous occasions, only good last ditch tackling from Stockport denied Boro scoring.

There were three excellent tries scored by three different players. Timon Warburton was first to break through the visiting defensive line and took it straight down the middle to give Boro the first try in the opening half, which finished 3-1 to Stockport.

However an opportunistic score from Callum Sharrocks reduced the deficit. A wayward pass from the visitors that went astray, was magically carried by the wind over the try line was pounced on by the ever grateful Sharrocks.

This try galvanised Littleborough Under 11’s as it would not be long before the home side were level. Bulldozer Billie Eastwood yet again steam rolled his way through and dotted down the levelling score while being surrounded by the opposition.

With a few mere minutes left and a victory there for anyone to take, it was unfortunate for the home faithful that it was Stockport who would take the win.

Visiting Stockport who were a credit to their club congratulated Littleborough on an entertaining game and an infectious and positive team mentality.
