Coppice hold out for draw at Town

THERE were only two matches played in the Rochdale, Bury and District Sunday Football League last weekend as the wintry weather conditions put paid to most of the fixtures.

In the first match Middleton Town were held to a 3-3 draw by Coppice United, whilst Puckersley stole a 3-2 win against North Manchester Lions.

In the Newbold Tyres Premier Division, Middleton Town’s draw today sent them to the top of the table, however second placed Rochdalian­s have two games in hand on the league leaders.

Rochdalian­s face last placed AFC Kearsley in their next Newbold Tyres Premier Division match, whilst Middleton Town will visit Elton and Walshaw.

In Division Two, Puckersley’s win against North Manchester Lions, saw them move up to third place.

Meanwhile North Manchester Lions still sit third from bottom with only nine points so far this season despite a resilient performanc­e this weekend.
