Tom lands Saints role as skipper
ROCHDALE St Clements FC are well into pre-season preparations for the coming season and there are quite a few new faces joining the team squads.
1st Team Manager Joel Murphy and assistant Ross Murphy have appointed Tom Beal as club captain.
Tom joined Clements several years ago and has progressed through the teams.
Tom said: “I’ve pretty much grown up at Clements so I’m confident I can contribute to the club by helping to get the sort of player commitment and encourage the sort of behaviours Saints traditionally promote.”
Joel with Ross, Tom and Joe Wilson will lead the 1st Team, with Ryan Clayton, Gary Weight and Chris McCarthy running 2nds.
Clements A Team remains in the experienced hands of Wayne Miles and Jason Jackson.
The 4th team is managed by Pete Foster who will be assisted by the promotion of one of Pennine JFC’s coaches.
Saints have worked very closely with the Council of Pennine JFC over the closed season to build a partnership based on mutual benefit and development.
Ground sharing, attracting funding for community football, providing pathways for children and young people to progress in football is at the heart of the partnership.
Rochdale St Clements FC Chairman Simon Lord said: “We are committed, along with Pennine JFC, to provide the best coaching, ground and facilities and football development opportunities to the young people of the Rochdale area.
“As ever Saints and Pennine are keen to hear from businesses or individuals who would like to support the venture through sponsorship or any other contributions.”
The Partnership also involves Rochdale Sports Club, who offer cricket, lacrosse and squash to young people at their adjacent facilities.
All are looking forward to the forthcoming season.
