Stylish pals join forces to open up new salon
TWO best friends have gone into business together, opening their own hairdressers.
Rhiannon Walsh and Niall Ward, both 25, first met when they were both senior stylists at the same salon in Rochdale, and discussed going into business together.
The pair saved up for months, before they invested £8,000 into the refurbishment of their premises at 513, Bury Road, in Rochdale.
The salon is called RhiWard Hair, a combination of both their names.
The environmentallysavvy business partners have aspired to create a eco-friendly, cruelty-free salon, using high-quality vegan hair products such as Kevin Murphy.
Rhiannon’s boyfriend, Nathan Marron, helped them to renovate the building through his job as an architect.
Niall said: “It was always an ambition of mine to open my own salon, and I’ve been a hairdresser for about eight years.
“I’m very excited about it.
“Rhiannon and I are really close - best friends.
“This has been in the works for three months.”
Rhiannon studied hairdressing at Bury College for a year before she did an apprenticeship, and met Niall.
She said: “I worked my way up in the salon where I used to work until I became a senior stylist.
“The new salon came up in the area we were working in and we decided to take the leap.
“It was too good to miss out on.
“It’s been hard work and a lot of saving.”
Rhiannon and Niall created the salon of their dreams, kitting it out with exposed wood, fairylights, and plants, which Rhiannon says give the salon a “rustic” feel.
She aimed to create a vibe similar to that of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
