Retirement flats are sellout

-

A LOCAL retirement development has sold out of rooms, with the increase in demand driven by the pandemic.

Butterworth Grange in Bamford, has sold out of its one and two bedroom retirement apartments, with the coronavirus pandemic thought to be the cause of the increase.

The apartments sold out completely in December last year.

It is thought the pandemic has accelerated many older people into thinking about moving to a property more suitable for their changing needs, after many months of being stuck at home.

Debbie Hughes, area sales manager for Butterworth Grange, said: “Feeling lonely, overwhelmed, not able to ask for help are just some of the things we have been hearing from older people in Bamford who have found themselves more isolated than ever over the last year.

“Moving to a vibrant community like the one here at Butterworth Grange allows our residents to keep doing the things they love, but with the reassurance that support is on hand if they need it; and a friendship group of like-minded individuals they can turn to.”

Now McCarthy Stone, who own the home, are encouraging those looking to downsize to consider their other home in Hazel Grove near Stockport, 20 miles away. And with the UK’s 65+ population is set to grow by 43 percent in the next 20 years, demand is set to increase further.

Debbie added: “For our newest homeowners who have joined us this year, whilst life is far from normal, many have found it invaluable in giving them a sense of belonging, especially with not being able to see family and friends as much as they’d like.

“Making sure our developments feel like safe places to live and to be right now, and protecting our residents and staff is our top priority.”

“Our communities have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of customers – something that has never been more important than right now.

“This substantial increase in interest in our apartments reflect the aspirations and lifestyles of retirees that wish to live in a social environment, but at the same time maintain their own independence in the form of more traditional property ownership.”
