AMOTORCYCLE group has reunited for the first time since the pandemic started.

Brass Knuckle Riders, a motorcycle group based in Rochdale, met up in the town centre on Wednesday, April 14, with 350 bikes rolling up to the Empire and Flying Horse Hotel on Packer Street.

The group has been heavily involved in volunteering during the pandemic, delivering PPE to doctors’ surgeries, hospitals and care homes.

It was the first time the group had met in person, as lockdown rules allowed pubs to open outside – the group were even joined by other groups from around the North West.

Senior organiser Paul Whitaker said it allowed the group to let their hair down after a stressful year. been holding full-time jobs down and were heavily involved with the volunteering throughout, so this was a way of getting everybody together, people who we’ve not been able to meet up with, so people could sit down, have a chat, have catch up and show the local community what we’re about.

“The other groups were asking questions about what we’d been doing and how they could get involved with voluntary work.”

Paul added that the group has been an important part of the community throughout the past year.

He said: “You hear of all these motorcycle groups and most people understand Sons of Anarchy or Hell’s Angels, we’re not about that.

“We’re a communitybased riding group. We have people from all sexes, sexual orientation, races – we encourage everybody to come in from all ages.”
