Education inspiratio­n as college hosts open day

HOPWOOD Hall College and University is holding its first, in-person open event for those looking for inspiratio­n on their next steps in education.

Hopwood now offers considerab­le growth over the past 12 months.

Those aged over 19 can find out more about the wide variety of careerboos­ting, part-time pathways being taught in the upcoming academic year.

This includes Access and Higher Education courses held at the college’s thriving University Centre.

There are also online courses and flexible learning routes for those who have become accustomed to working from home. These are well suited for people who want to gain new skills while juggling commitment­s like work and family.

As well as courses to improve employment prospects, there are several options for those who want to take up a new hobby and make new friends.

This includes taster sessions on metal detecting that take place on the grounds of the college’s sprawling 70-acre campus.

Meanwhile, Hopwood’s apprentice­ship provision hit new heights in 2020/21 as more learners than ever were able to start training in a new more courses than ever before, with exciting new pathways on offer for both school leavers and adults.

The much-anticipate­d event will take place across its campuses in Rochdale and Middleton from 10am to 2pm on Thursday, August 5.

Just some of the fantastic facilities that the public can experience include the contempora­ry ‘Riverside Salon’, the state-of-the-art ‘ Technology Centre’ and the fullyequip­ped gym, that is free for all students to use.

There are also the spectacula­r wildlife enclosures, where those who are destined to work with animals can get up close and personal with creatures such as wallabies, meerkats and armadillos ahead of studying courses such as veterinary nursing.

The event promises to be a brilliant opportunit­y for people of all ages to learn about the college, which has experience­d vocation.

Anyone who’s ready to ‘earn as they learn’ could benefit from attending the upcoming event to hear about the many opportunit­ies to become an apprentice.
