PCSOS help vulnerable man shop

TWO PCSOS in Rochdale have been praised after they took a vulnerable man shopping after they noticed he didn’t have any food in.

PCSOS Colin and Paul, from the Pennine Neighbourhood Team, met the man, who struggled with everyday tasks like shopping, on a call to his address last Friday.

“PCSO Colin and Paul went above and beyond and spent time with him gaining crucial details so that the correct agencies could help him going forward, they took him shopping and stocked him up before they left,”

Neighbourhood Sergeant Matt said. “Acts like this are not a one off and we are committed helping the most vulnerable people on our beats. Little acts of compassion can go a long way,” he added.

The wider Greater Manchester Police has also praised the officers.

“Brilliant work from our community officers in Rochdale going the extra mile for a vulnerable man who they came across while carrying out their duty in the town.

“Thank you to our PCSOS for their commitment to the communities they serve on a daily basis,” the force said in a Facebook status.

The post has gained a huge amount of traction online - with over a thousand people having liked or reacted to the shared status.

One person to leave a comment, Sam Marsh, said: “What a lovely story - but it’s a shame things like this happen in the first place. “Well done to the officers for taking his time to build a rapport with the man and helping him with essentials.”
