More glory for golden boys

THE Perez brothers, from Rochdale, have once again struck gold.

The three brothers, who are jiu jitsu fanatics, training several days a week, have won a new raft of medals at their latest competitio­n.

Andrew, 11 and Collin, nine, won double Gold medal at the All Stars Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Southern Pro.

Little brother Ethan, seven, managed to secure double Silver medal in a heavier category this time.

Proud dad Carlos said: “It was a high quality competitor­s and tough fights for the three of them, this time the competitio­n was held at the Hart Leisure Centre in Fleet, near London, “We cannot describe how proud we are of our boys, all the hard training has paid off.

Andrew, grey belt, competed under -34kg in both gi and nogi category.

Collin, grey belt competed under -30kg in both gi and nogi. Ethan, white belt, had no contestant­s in his weight category and decided to challenged himself in a heavier category and had a great experience.

Carlos added: “Andrew also won a gold medal at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Nottingham Open, and Ethan managed to secure a gold medal, again very high quality competitor­s and tough fights for both of them, the competitio­n was held at the Wildcats Arena in the city of Nottingham.

Andrew, is a pupil at Holy Family RC and CE College in Heywood, both Collin and Ethan attend St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School in Norden.

The proud parents are considerin­g taking Andrew to the biggest Kids Jiu-jitsu tournament in the world, the IBJJF Kids Pan American World Championsh­ips in Los Angeles California in 2022, which is one of the most prestigiou­s kids Bjj tournament in the world.

Carlos said soon they will start raising funds to help with the competitio­n’s costs to take Andrew to America.

All three brothers train at Team Sukata in Warrington under the coach black belt Lee Simpson.

As well as Brazilian JiuJitsu, they train in Judo at Bacup Judo club and Judo Excellence club, wrestling at Bolton Wrestling Club and Thai boxing at Valley Thai Boxing Club in Whitworth. Carlos said: “We can’t thank enough their coaches for all the amazing knowledge and skills passed to the boys, they wouldn’t be where they are without their support, and we also want to thank their Sponsors RAINE Clothing ltd and Valor Fightwear for all the support towards the boys.”
