Old head Penky pens deal for 2022 at Hornets

ROCHDALE Hornets is proud to announce that captain Sean Penkywicz has extended his stay at the club, ahead of the 2022 season.

Rochdale Hornets is proud to announce that captain Sean Penkywicz has extended his stay at the club, ahead of the 2022 season.

The 39-year-old has previously played in the Super League for both Huddersfie­ld Giants, and Halifax. The former Wales internatio­nal has also represente­d Leigh Centurions, Toronto Wolfpack, and Workington Town before signing for Hornets in 2020.

Head coach Matt Calland, who worked with

Penkywicz at Halifax, appointed him as captain upon his arrival to the club.

Calland is delighted to have Penkywicz re-sign.

He said: “Sean has agreed to do one more year with us, which is brilliant because his experience is invaluable in this division.

“He is a proven matchwinne­r and a great person to have around the club so we’re hoping we can look after him a bit better than last year.”

The re-signing comes just four days after centre Tom Ashton extended his stay at the club, with Hornets continuing to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season. SQUAD ANNOUNCED SO FAR:
