AMONTHLY Artisian Market will be returning to the town with a lineup of around 20 traders after the pandemic brought it to a halt.

Businesses will set up their stalls on Saturday, July 9 at Rochdale Riverside including The Funky Deer based in Milnrow and Square One Scents.

The Artisan Market has been running since September 2020 but has to stop due to the pandemic.

Kim, from Norden, who owns The Manchester Soap Company on Yorkshire Street will be setting up a stall at the market selling soaps containing essential oils in a variety of scents such as citrus lime, lavender and lemon.

She said: “I am so excited for the market and you meet so many lovely customers doing this.

“It is a lovely day right in the heart of Rochdale town centre and it is a very happy market and it gives customers something to look forward to.

“Opportunities like this are crucial for local businesses as we want footfall in our town centre and it is vital for local independent artisans because it is an opportunity to showcase what they make and meet new people.

“Rochdale has a wealth of talent and people can show that at the market.”

Kim turned her passion for making soaps into a business in November 2020 after being made redundant from her development managerial job for a national charity.

The market, which is run by BID, offers a variety of local produce on the second Saturday of each month from 10am until 4pm.

It is hoped that the Artisan Market will increase footfall and improve the local economy as well as provide greater employment opportunities and enhance of the area’s sense of community by encouraging people to shop locally.

Paul Ambrose, BID manager, said: “The Artisan Market is proving to be hugely popular and it is a chance to showcase and support creative local businesses.

“The market is helping to entice new visitors to the town centre and its helps to create a vibrant atmosphere and with a growing offer it really does have something for everyone.”

Shoppers can expect to see artisan bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade fudge, local meat from a farm butcher and organic cheese.

Craft businesses will be selling handmade glass gifts and jewellery, soy wax melts, home fragrances and luxurious botanical soaps.
