“The dressing room was a positive place and a win always brings that so it was very nice, especially at home. We’d spoken about it all week, how we’d been very good away from home since the gaffer came in but very disappoint­ing at home.

Doubled total of points in a week

“That’s three wins out of the last four games, so the momentum we are building is good and we are looking up now rather than down, looking at the teams above us and gradually bringing them into it.

“The gaffer has bought a positive attitude - he’s a bubbly guy, always happy and the mood is good whether we win or lose. The standards in training have risen and there are places to play for in the team, a lot of boys comingback from injury. We’re training like we play in games and I felt that showed against Barrow.

“Competitio­n for places helps everyone. It’s not nice seeing boys injured but we only have Tahvon (Campbell) who’s the only one injured, and with a lot of games coming up Saturday/ Tuesday it’s up to the boys who started to keep their place and for those with a chance to come on it’s about taking that chance.

“It was nice to score two goals, but we probably made it hard for ourselves because we had a lot of chances, in the first half especially. We were quite sloppy in the final third and could have taken more care and in the second half we could have killed the game off quicker. If we score a third I don’t think the last ten minutes happens. They were chucking everything in the box in the last five minutes and it’s always going to be a bit sticky, but since the gaffer came in we have looked a lot more solid from set-pieces especially and I never felt we were going to
