Swan take flight as Collinson leads rout
ONLY one game was played in the First Division at weekend and it was raining goals. Unfortunately for R-kix they were all scored by AFC Swan who stormed to a 13-0 win with four goals from Elliot Collinson leading the way.
Sam Howe bagged a hat-trick, Jack Law netted twice and further strikes were added by Liam Garry, Josh Smethurst, Louie Collinson and Adam Howe as Swan kept the pressure on league leaders Avenue.
In Division Three AFC Bolton continue to struggle as they fell to a narrow defeat at Bury Pumas losing by the odd goal in nine.
Mason, Kean(2), Walsh and Toth were the scorers for Pumas with Dalley, Ted and Hillman(2) replying for Bolton. Johnson Fold kept in touch with the front runners in the division with a 7-2 win at Norford United to move into second although the teams around them do have games in hand.
In Division Four Brown Cow finally picked up their first point of the season with a hard fought 1-1 draw at R-kix Reserves while Clayton Athletic narrowed the gap between themselves and Breightmet Wanderers 2nds to three points after a 5-1 home win.
Connor Robinson scoring for Breightmet with Togg and Viner scoring two each for Clayton with a late own goal making up the total.
In Division Five Totty Robins consolidated their second place position winning 2-0 at Bury North while Ben Thompson led the way with four goals for North Manchester Lions 2nds as they stormed to a 9-1 win at Made In Bury.
In the Christine Robinson league Cup, Heywood Athletic edged past Bolton Castle on penalties, Breightmet Wanderers were 3-1 winners over Tonge United, Avenue 2nds won 4-1 at Royle and Fox & Pine shook off their league woes to record a 3-1 win at North West Cobras.
Biggest cup scoreline of the day saw Woodbank UTB score 10 without reply at home to Bolton Town. Hindsford, Hark to Dandler and Wardleworth were the other teams who booked their passage into the next round.
In the county cups it was a bad day for Avenue as they tumbled out of the LFA Sunday Trophy losing 4-0 at Lord Raglan, while in the MFA County Cup Woolworths advanced with a 6-1 win away to fellow Rochdale league side North Walkden but both North Manchester Lions and Royton CC went out losing to Radcliffe and Mossley respectively.
