Figures reveal big impact Trust has made on leisure

YOUR Trust Rochdale has released its annual Impact Report, delving into the charitable trust’s achievemen­ts over the last 12 months.

Your Trust operates leisure and cultural venues across the borough, on behalf of Rochdale

Borough Council, including Touchstone­s Rochdale, Middleton Arena, Heywood Sports Village, Hollingwor­th Lake Water Activity Centre, Littleboro­ugh Sports Centre, Heywood Civic Centre and Rochdale Leisure Centre.

“As we reflect on the milestones achieved in the past year, we are incredibly proud to hear the stories of transforma­tion and witness the lasting impact on the lives of individual­s.

remarkable journeys and experience­s that we truly understand the significan­ce of our work, and as we celebrate the achievemen­ts of the past year, we also look forward to the opportunit­ies that lie ahead.

“Together, continuing to work with our valued partners and stakeholde­rs, we can build on this momentum and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.”

The top figures from the report included:

More than 1.1 million visits to Your Trust leisure centres throughout the year, a 20% increase on the previous year’s results (2020-21).

4,380 volunteer hours supported the programmes and activities delivered across the borough.

Almost 200 participan­ts attended inclusive activities, including chair-based yoga, inclusive cycling, inclusive dance, inclusive yoga therapy, multi-sports, sensory walks, and boat rides.

More than 5,000 children, across 81 venues, attended the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme and took part in free holiday activities with more than 38,200 hot and cold healthy meals provided.

More than 10,490 children, young people and families engaged with Touchstone­s through a variety of events, activities and school sessions.

More than 4,250 pupils took part in the Mindful Movements sessions totalling more than 25,530 attendees throughout the academic year.

More than 4,690 contacts with children and young people throughout the year as part of the #Thrive programme, with 835 participan­ts attending regular #Thrive activities.

More than 9,230 adults attended Your Trust specialist health and wellbeing activities.

More than 64,300 people attended events at Middleton Arena and Heywood Civic Centre with 22% of those attending living inside the borough.

Councillor Sue Smith, Cabinet member for communitie­s, culture and co-operatives, said: “Despite the nation facing the difficulti­es felt by the cost-of-living crisis, Your Trust, and the venues it operates, have done everything to ensure they are still accessible and affordable for all in the borough.

“We can only expect to see the figures grow from strength to strength, and we’re delighted for what the next 12 months will hold.”

David Gelsthorpe, Chair of the Board of Trustees, added: “The figures mean nothing without the true impact we’re seeing throughout the community and the ripple effect this continues to have hereafter.

“With so many exciting plans already in motion for the year ahead, I’m delighted that we will continue to build on the work that we have done to make a real difference in the community.”
