Replacement bus services during engineering works on Metrolink
METROLINK services will be affected by essential engineering works taking place this weekend.
Track repair work will be carried out on the Rochdale and Bury lines on Saturday and Sunday (4 and 5 November), meaning there will be no tram service between Bury and Whitefield, or Freehold and Rochdale town centre during this time.
Those going to see Peter Kay or Oktagon 48 MMA at Manchester Arena – or heading to see City take on Bournemouth at the Etihad – are reminded to check whether this will affect their journeys and plan ahead.
Replacement bus services will be laid on at all affected stops to ensure people are still able to make their journeys as usual.
Danny Vaughan, head of Metrolink, said: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience these essential works may cause to people travelling this weekend.
“However, it’s important we maintain and improve the network so it continues to provide a reliable and safe service to all our customers.
“The work has been scheduled to minimise disruption during the week, when more use the network and we will be doing everything we can to keep the disruption to a minimum.
“We have a comprehensive replacement bus service, so people can still get to and from their intended destinations and I’d encourage passengers to monitor our website and social media channels for the latest information and advice.”
There is a comprehensive programme of renewals and enhancements to maintain and improve the UK’S largest tram network, but no further works are planned as Metrolink heads into the festive season and one of the busiest times of the year.
