Mcnally returns after year at Oldham

-

ROCHDALE Hornets have signed experienced fullback Gregg Mcnally ahead of the 2024 season.

Mcnally returns to the club following a one-year spell at neighbours Oldham last season.

He remains one of the best and quickest-thinking players in Betfred League

One having represented Ireland at international level 12 times.

Gregg who recently represented his county Cumbria against Wales, has played over 300 first class games at Super League, Championship and League One level, scoring a remarkable 189 tries and kicking 163 goals and four drop goals for a total of 1,064 points to date.

Chairman Andy Mazey commented on the signing: “We are delighted to have brought Gregg Mcnally back to Rochdale Hornets. Gregg is a lad I’ve had the privilege of knowing for over ten years now dating back to my time as a director at Leigh.

“He is one of the best professionals you will ever meet, and a player who was very high on Gary Thornton’s wish list for 2024.

“Gregg’s quality and experience will be invaluable on and off the park for us, and I know our supporters will be pleased with this news, and will welcome Gregg, Rosey, and the Mcnally family back to Hornets with open arms”.

Mcnally added: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back at Rochdale this year.

“I really enjoyed my time with the club two year ago, it is a real family club and a place where I really enjoyed my rugby.

“I’m looking forward to working with Gary, Andy and all the coaching staff again.

“In 2024 I hope the Hornets faithful get behind us as we’ve assembled a great group of lads who will work hard for each other and give it our best shot every week, I’m really looking forward to being a part of that and contributing to help the club.

“See you all at the Crown Oil in 2024.”
