Royle edge Pumas to claim first win

ON remembrance Sunday all RBDSFL teams paid their respects with a minute’s silence before the kick-off at 11am to all our fallen and serving service men and women.

With only 11 games playable, Firgrove was the place to be.

The venue featured 10 teams competing on five of the seven pitches this week with the surfaces good to soft, and all the pitches holding out for all the teams to complete their matches.

We saw the Royle FC of Division 1 take their first three points in the league in open play after a closely fought 4-3 victory against the visitors Bury Pumas FC. Goals for the home team came from Mackenzie Davies, Matthew Genesis and two goals for Matthew Sutcliffe. Referee was David Cryer.

Littleborough FC of Division 1 beat visitors Bolton Castle FC 4-2 in the league, with goals for the home team for Tim Astley, Anthony Mcglade and two goals from Harry Royds, with Littleborough as clinical as ever.

The difficult conditions were the same for both teams with the two away goals well taken, the second goal coming from Liam Parkinson’s skilful free kick. Referee was Daniel Shipton.

Oxford FC lost to Woodbank JFC 3-0 in the Chris

Shyne Division 1 Trophy Cup, with goals from the visitors Dan Worsick, Harry Burgess taking two goals.

Again, on a difficult pitch with the rain coming down, it was a tough day in the office for the Oxford lads, with the Woodbank making the most of their chances. Referee Phil Newby.

Division 4 Brown Cow FC took a hard fought 2-2 draw against Holcombe AFC on a heavy pitch, with the Holcombe manager Darren Fazackerley having to step up and take charge of the whistle.

Finally, the Lancashire Hospitality FC took their first point of their first season with the league against the current Division

3 leaders and also newcomers to the league Cartshaft FC with a hard fought 1-1 draw.

Lancashire Hospitality FC took the lead through an Adam Sweeney goal after 30 minutes with the lads having to give 100 per cent to stay in the game.

The Cartshaft FC finally equalised from a Lewis Jones goal in the last 15 minutes of the game but at the same time turned the pressure with the Hospitality lads putting in a shift to earn themselves a draw. Referee Jordan Lock.

Sadly, both teams for the North Manchester Lions FC went out in the FA Sunday Cups but the league are proud of their efforts as both games played in good nature and great respect for each other.

The league is positive they will both bounce back in action next week.

On a more positive note, Rochdalians appeared to take a large victory of 13-0 against the North Manchester Kaizers in the Manchester FA County Cup, with Lewis Altimas scoring six goals, Lewis Mahoney three, Jack Hutchins three and one for Kai Morris.
