Rochdalians keep up fine run of form

- LANCASHIRE AND CHESHIRE LEAGUE

WET, Wet, Wet is definitely not the favourite musical output for L and C fixture secretary Malcolm Kershaw as poor weather conditions during the week again caused many fixtures to be postponed.

The top teams in division A were all forced out of action and the two midtable games played both ended at 2-1.

Rochdalians kept up their good run of form winning at AFC Oldham and Trafford United reserves won at Bury Ams reserves.

Division B was decimated to just a single game and AFC Oldham moved to the top of the table on goal difference from AFC Stockport Warriors with a clinical 4-0 victory hosting Moston Brook fourths.

Plenty of action in division C and runaway leaders Sublime Athletic extended their lead to 13 points with a hard-earned 4-3 derby win over a battling Fittonhill All Stars

Second-placed Stafford Argyle lost 5-2 hosting Bury Ams thirds who moved to within a points of Argyle with a game in hand.

Signol Athletic reserves were the top scorers in the division beating Stoconians reserves 6-3 and Richmond Rovers enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 win hosting Irlam Steel Rangers Development

Didsbury reserves kept up their run of good form with a gritty 2-1 win over Saddleworth 3D reserves to move clear of the bottom two.

The Premier division was limited to just two games and it was a good day at the office for Salford Vics as goals from Joe Axon (two), Mikey Lawler and subs Sam Birkett (tqwo) and Cam Woodhouse gave 6-1 win at a Abacus Media who battled well throughout the game.

The win sees Vics reduce the lead of nonplaying Moston Brook to five points with Vics having a game in hand.

The other game at Hattersley was enjoyed by the players and referee Paul Kershaw as both teams respected the official and were fully committed to playing football with visitors North Walkden emerging with a 3-2 win to stay level with Salford Vics but having played a game more.

In the Manchester Challenge Trophy Irlam Steel Rangers lost out 3-1 hosting Denton Town.

Division one featured another thriller as leaders Bedians hosted local rivals Trafford United.

United came out of the blocks buzzing to lead 2-0 at the break.

The Bedians responded with goals from Owen Carr and Dylan Mcevoy drawing them level and the outstanding Eric Asymany gave them the lead.

United responded well to draw level and it was a ding-dong finish with chances created at both ends but some great saves by both keepers saw it end level.

Credit to young referee Will Murphy for handling the game well and keeping the game flowing for 90 minutes.

The lost points saw the chasing teams cut down on Bedians lead and another thriller won by Bury Ams by 4-3 over Rushford Park cut the Bedians lead to three points.

The other game in the division had Moston Brook reserves beating Salford Albion 4-1 to stay in the promotion mix.

Hazel Grove have made an impressive start in the league and a big 7-1 win at North Walkden reserves keeps them firmly in the picture with games in hand.

Division two leaders Bollington H and L look almost unstoppable as they extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points over nonplaying Dukinfield Athletic with an efficient 3-0 win at Elton Hargreaves.

Salford Vics reserves matched their first team with a 6-1 win at home against Hooley Bridge.

The Vics goals the goals flowed from from Reece Coley (three), Keir Jones,

James Grantham and Ken Jackson.

Vics are level third on points with Spurley Hey who won 3-1 at FC Babylon.

Abacus Media reserves moved out of the bottom two with a nervy 4-3 win at AFC Boarshaw.

Division three leaders Jlingz forfeited home advantage to Santos as the

teams fought out a rare 0-0 draw between two prolific scoring teams.

Jlingz were awarded a penalty on the half hour but sportingly admitted there was no foul committed. They almost won the game in the dying seconds with two efforts cleared off the line.

There goals galore in the

other games in the division with second-placed Stoconians cruising to a 6-1 win at over Old Stretfordians reserves.

The other two games produced 9-0 wins for Dom Doyle over Saddleworth 3D and AFC Stockport at South Manchester to keep them in promotion contention.
