Oxford off the bottom after storming Castle

SEVERAL fixtures survived last Sunday’s heavy downpour.

Three games were completed in Division 1. At Longsight Park, Bolton Castle were beaten 6-2 on home turf by The Oxford, the win lifting them off the foot of the table, while Rochdalians ran out 9-1 win over Royton CC at Clayton Playing Fields. At Firgrove, Royle FC edged a 3-2 win against North Manchester Lions.

In Division 2, AFC D’havilland FC ran out 4-2 winners against Helmshore Harriers at Little Lever School.

There were no games possible in Division 3 while in Division 4 Holcombe enjoyed a 7-4 win over Milburn and Brown Cow beat Railway Rovers 2-1, both games played at Firgrove.

The game at Keswick Street between Rochdale Mayfield and AFC GTAS started with Mayfield leading 2-1 at the interval. However, the game was abandoned after 54 minutes as the weather took its toll.
