Glad to be back

-

DALE striker Tyrese Sinlair has spoken of his joy after returning from an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old had been in fine form before being ruled out for six weeks during the autumn but is now back and looking to add to his eight goals so far this season.

Kyle Ferguson also picked up an injury with Dale boss Jim Mcnulty saying at the time: “They’ll both be a minimum of a month.

“Four to six weeks is the guidance on them. It’s a real shame.

“Kyle has got a grade 2B tear in his groin and Tyrese has ligament damage in his ankle.

“I really hope its four weeks and not six, because we’re so, so thin [the squad] and it’s hard to support the team right now in the way that we would like to”.

Sinclair would have been aiming to add to his goals tally against Gateshead in the FA Trophy at the weekend but the match was postponed due to the pitch at the Crown Oil Arena being deemed unplayable – tie was due to go ahead on Tuesday evening as the Observer went to press.

Sinclair said: “I’m happy to be back. I’ve really missed it, it’s felt like a long six weeks.

“It was probably my first proper injury but I’m just glad to be back.

“I was playing well then that (the injury) happened. But I’ve just got to get back to it now”.

Sinclair said it took him a bit of time to come to terms with the injury, giving it was his first extended spell on the sidelines.

He continued: “I’ve not been properly injured like that before but it took a couple of days then I was fully focused on getting back as quickly possible and thankfully I got back a week ahea of schedule.

“I had to go through a lot of gym work on bikes and rowers and stuff like that. And when you’re in a big boot it’s hard mentally. Obviously being away from the boys as well but I think that makes you mentally strong and gives you a hunger for when you’re back”.

Sinclair also highlighted the importance of being involved with the squad despite being out of action.

He continued: “You’ve got to keep that togetherness even when you’re injured.

“We’re a family so when we win we all win together and when we lose we all lose together.

“You have to get the injured lads involved so they still feel a part of the squad and not left out because they’re injured.

“I just want to get back to playing well and scoring goals.

“I’ve got high standards so I expect that from myself, to get going again straight away.”
