Hamer trio impress Blackburn audience
HIRAA Akram, 15, entered the ring for the very first time when she met Noah Shah of Technique ABC in a non-scoring-controlled skills bout at Blackburn youth Zone, Blackburnlast weekend.
Both females came out of their corners to a vibrant noise from the crowd as they began the first round whilst using their jabs.
Throughout the round the Technique boxer constantly stepped upon her front foot as she threw out her jab to the head of the Hamer boxer.
But as the round progressed, she began to feel the much stronger jabs thrown by her Hamer opponent, who slowly began to force Shah on the back foot.
In the second round both boxers began to throw straight-armed one-two combinations, the Technique boxer slowly taking the initiative as she continuously pressed forward whilst throwing her punches at her opponent.
Then, Hiraa suddenly landed a solid right hand to the chin of her on-coming opponent, which began to force Shah onto the back foot as she tried to stay out of range.
In the third and last round, Hiraa began to take control as she landed powerful, straight armed one-two combinations to the face, whilst the Technique boxer threw very tired swinging punches, which failed to connect.
As the round proceeded, the Technique boxer became more exhausted as she was outworked by the much fitter Hamer boxer, who continued to land straight armed blows to the head before the bell rang to end the round, which prompted the referee to instantly raise both boxers’ arms up into the air as the crowd showed their appreciation.
One-week later Hiraa Akram stepped into the ring for the second time when she travelled to Norbreck Castle in Blackpool to meet Summer Doran of Fleetwood Boxing Club, in an open-class skills bout, where both boxers could throw any punch throughout the contest.
When the first bell rang to start the bout, both boxers met in the middle of the ring to exchange punches. The much longer armed Fleetwood boxer started to gain the advantage as she constantly landed her straight-armed blows to the head of her on-coming Hamer opponent, who also gained slight success when she threw her much stronger right hand to the chin, which the Hamer coach Steven Connellan spotted.
So when the bell rang to end the round, he told Hiraa to keep her guard much tighter whilst throwing her straight right-handed punch to her on-coming opponent.
When the bell rang to signal the next round, Hiraa met her opponent in the middle of the ring, both boxers forcing up the volume within the room as they landed constant blows upon each other throughout the entire round.
In the third and last round Hiraa showed her intentions as she forced her opponent upon the back foot whilst landing blow after blow.
Doran began to fight back, and the noise rose to another level as both boxers exchanged punches until the bell rang to end the round, which prompted the referee asked the MC to complement both females on such a outstanding performance.
The entertainment didn’t end there for Hamer Boxing Club, because 15-yearold Azaan Hussain stepped into the ring for the very first time in another open class, skills bout.
He met Jacob Hampson of Fleetwood Boxing Club, who landed the first solid punch of the fight upon the chin of his Hamer opponent, who happened to be using his probing jab to find his range. As the round progressed, Azaan slowly began to step into range, which led him to land successive punches to the head, whilst Hampson press.ed forward.
In the last ten seconds Azaan unloaded multiple unanswered punches to the head to end the round.
In round two, both boxers came out probing with their jabs, until Hampson landed a solid right hand to the chin of his Hamer opponent who replied with two swift punches of his own.
As the round progressed, Azaan slowly began to step upon his front foot and take the fight to his opponent who began to look tired, and the Hamer boxer began to connect with clean, solid punches once again before the bell rang to indicate the end the round.
Before the start of the next round, Azaan was told by his coach to up the pace and take the fight to his opponent much more, because he believed that Hampson was slowly tiring. So, when the bell rang to indicate the third and last round, Azaan stepped out and began to wait for his opponent to come into range whilst Hampson was throwing his punches, before stepping forward and countering Hampson with multiple blows of his own to the head.
This continued throughout a very entertaining contest which had the crowd clapping with appreciation as both boxers had their arms raised by the referee at the end of the bout.
The third Hamer boxer to step into the ring that day was 15-year-old Isaac Coyle, who was having his second skills bout for Hamer when he met Billy
Boswell of
Boxing Club.
When the bell rang to start round one, Isaac came out and landed a jab to the body, before his taller opponent began to step into range whilst throwing long, straight armed one-two combinations to the head.
Isacc replied with three to four punch combinations to both the body and head. Then Boswell connected with a powerful right hook to the head.
Before the start of round two, Isaac was told by his coach to step back out of range when Boswell stepped towards him whilst throwing his punches. Then as soon as he had finished, Isaac should instantly step forward and reply with punches of his own.
The bell rang for the second round and Isaac followed his coach’s instructions to the tee when he constantly stepped back out of range when Boswell tried to unload his one-two combinations to his head, before stepping back into range with punches of his own which began to connect.

Isaac started to gain confidence as he waited for his opponent to attack him, before connecting with his solid right hand to the chin.
Before the round ended, Boswell started to slow down and back off Isaac, who then began to slowly press forward whilst unloading more rapid punches, which prompted his coach to tell the Hamer boxer to step upon his front foot much more in the last round, which he instantly did whilst also stepping back out of range when Boswell tried to unload punches of his own. Then Isaac moved back into the action with more telling blows.
Towards the end of the contest the aggression Isaac showed began to force his opponent onto the ropes whilst he landed punches, but his exhausted but much stronger opponent let him know that he was still in the fight when he landed an occasional solid blow to the head of his Hamer rival. When the bell rang to end the performance, the crowd showed their appreciation whilst both boxers had their arms held high by the referee.
