Star Adam says he’s ‘still not over career highlight’
Relives special moment as TV drama returns
ADAM Thomas has said he’s ‘still not over it’ as he revisited a TV moment from 2023 that he’s described as his ‘career highlight’.
At the start of last year, the actor reprised the role of Donte Charles in the reboot of Waterloo Road.
The school-based drama returned to Greater Manchester for the first time in almost eight years after it was axed.
The show, which ran from 2006 to 2015, was first filmed at Hill Top Primary School in Rochdale before relocating to Scotland.
At the time Adam, who has since starred in the 2023 run of Strictly Come
Dancing, said he felt ‘very lucky’ to be back playing former bad boy turned doting dad and husband, Donte.
And it’s was, and continues to be a family affair.
Not only did Adam’s actual son, Teddy, join the cast as his on-screen son, the former Emmerdale star’s niece, Scarlett Thomas, who is the daughter of older brother Ryan and his Coronation Street star ex Tina O’brien, is also playing his onscreen daughter.
During the first episode of the show’s return back in January 2023, viewers were heartbroken when Donte’s wife, Chlo, died following a incident with a car.
It later resulted in emotional scenes for Adam, Teddy and Scarlett’s characters as they were forced to come to terms with the loss of their wife and mum.
Taking to Instagram before the latest series of Waterloo Road began on Tuesday night, Adam shared a video of one of those emotional moments which saw Teddy’s character Tommy, being helped to get ready by older sister Izzy, played by Scarlett, for their mum’s funeral.
Alongside the clip, Manchester-born Adam wrote: “One of the biggest highlights of last year and probably my whole career to date, was sharing the screen with these two!
“My beautiful talented niece @scarlettjthomas26 and mr Teddy James.
“Catch us all on screen again tonight in the return of Waterloo road !! With some epic new characters joining the series !! I for one cannot wait!!”
It is then when Adam added: “I don’t know about you, but am still not over this !!! Hahahah Is Donte!???

It didn’t take Adam’s fans and followers to respond with praise for the acting family as well as responding to the tearjerking scene.
