ST CHAD’S AND ST MARY IN THE BAUM

ST Chad’s, on Sparrow Hill, overlookin­g the town centre, has been Rochdale’s Parish Church for over 800 years. Together with our sister church, St Mary in the Baum, we are still serving the community of Rochdale today, and you are welcome to join us.

Children’s activities are available during Sunday morning services and refreshmen­ts are served afterwards. For details of the Asian Christian Fellowship, call 07983 388169.

Tomorrow, Sunday, January 21, is the 3rd Sunday of Epiphany. The Eucharist, with hymns, is at St Mary’s at 9.15am. Choral Eucharist is at St Chad’s at 11.15am. The Psalm is 128 and the anthem ‘From the Eastern Mountains.’ At both services the celebrant and preacher is the Area Dean, Canon Karen Smeeton.

Each Monday at St Mary’s, the Red Cross provides help for refugees from 10am until 2pm. Refreshmen­ts are available and admission is free. Next Wednesday, January 24, at St Mary’s, the Toad Lane Lunchtime Concert features The Roth Guitar Duo: Sam Rodwell and Emma Smith. Admission is £6.

Next Thursday, January 25, St Chad’s has Morning Prayer at 10am. Next Sunday, January 28, is the Feast of the Presentati­on - Candlemas. The Eucharist, with hymns, is at St Mary’s at 9.15am.

Choral Eucharist is at St Chad’s at 11.15am. The celebrant and preacher at both services is the Area Dean, Canon Karen Smeeton. On Saturday, January 27, at St Chad’s at 3pm, the local Organists’ Associatio­n presents a concert by John Hosking, of Blackburn Cathedral. Admission is £8 and £6.50 for members and concession­s.
