Application for complex of industrial warehouses

- BY GEORGE LYTHGOE

ANOTHER huge new complex of industrial warehouses could be coming to the Kingsway Business Park in Rochdale soon.

Plans for the site just off Junction 21 of the M62 include four employment buildings consisting of a combined internal floorspace of 12,807m for flexible use. On what is called ‘Plot L’ there is already outline permission for the development, and this latest bid would see Wilson Bowden Developments Ltd granted permission to start building work.

A total of 57 car parking spaces would be provided to the unit including six electric vehicle parking spaces and four disabled spaces.

This application has been submitted to Rochdale Council following news that a main contractor, Glencar Construction, has been appointed to deliver the other new industrial warehouse project on the same complex. The same developer has started work on ‘Plot J’ for two units of 87,000 sq.ft. and 116,500 sq.ft, which are set to be completed by the end of 2024.

Henry Henson, commercial development manager at Wilson Bowden, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Cabot Properties in delivering further high-quality, Grade A speculative units at our flagship Kingsway Business Park development.

“The ongoing development rollout emphasises the site’s unmatched location on the M62 and the robust occupier market.”

The Kingsway Partnership is a joint venture involving Wilson Bowden Developments, Rochdale Development Agency, Rochdale Borough Council, and Homes England. The park is already home to big names in retail including Asda, JD Sports, Amazon, Danish Crown, E-on UK and Dachser.
