Juma targeting a play-off place

-

ROCHDALE Hornets have signed experienced former London Broncos and London Skolars outside back Lameck Juma ahead of the 2024 season.

Juma has spent his entire playing career in the capital, featuring four times for the Broncos during their 2022 Betfred Championship campaign.

The tough-running 33-year-old also spent several years with the Skolars and amassed nearly a century of appearances for the club, 12 of which came last season.

Juma has an impressive scoring record, averaging nearly a try every other game during his time at the Skolars.

“I am very excited to be starting a new chapter in my playing career, in the home of rugby league up north,” he said.

“I have played in the division for eight years, and this season I look forward to challenging myself to be a valuable asset to the Rochdale Hornets.

“Hopefully we can make it to the play-offs as we’ve got a good group of players. I’m also looking forward to working under Gary Thornton after I’ve played against him a few times.”

Head coach Thornton said: “I’m absolutely delighted to bring Lameck into the group for 2024. I’ve been a big admirer of him for some time during his time in London with both the Skolars and the Broncos, and he has always caused us problems whenever we’ve played against him.

“He has tried to come up north on a number of occasions and contacted me a few times over his career, but his work commitments have not allowed it. I’m delighted to have finally brought him to Rochdale.

“He’s a big, powerful centre or back-rower and is a real handful in attack and strong in defence. He will give us some additional attacking options and will be a threat out wide.

“I’m really looking forward

to working with him and welcoming him into our group.”

The Flying Horse Hotel will be sponsoring

Lameck during the 2024 season.

His supporter sponsorship is still available. For just £300+VAT, supporters

will receive PA announcements, scoreboard and social media association, their name shown on the Hornets’ official team

sheet and website, and they will also receive their sponsored player’s home match jersey at the end of the season.
