Line-up for festival is revealed amid an appeal for volunteers

-

THE Friday night headliner for the Ramsbottom Festival has been announced amid calls by organisers for an ‘army of volunteers’.

Corduroy-clad electronica duo Public Service Broadcasting will headline the first night of the popular festival on September 16.

This adds to the already announced line up that includes Julian Cope on Friday, Gaz Coombes on Saturday and Fun Lovin’ Criminals on Sunday night.

The three-day festival will be taking over Ramsbottom with live music from September 16 to September 18.

This is Public Service Broadcasting’s second appearance at the festival, having first performed on the main stage back in 2013.

It is one of just a handful of festivals the London-based duo will be playing this summer and their unique live AV transmissions see them weave samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material around live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics.

They will be joined on the Friday night by indie rock four-piece Larkins. Pop-rock band Delamere have been added to the Saturday line-up, along with seven-piece blues gypsy band Holy Moly and the Crackers and new alternative rock band White Boy.

Sunday will see the addition of soul legends Smoove and Turrell, with radio support from Giles Peterson and Craig Charles, as well a performance by The Plumedores, a threepiece blues, folk and roots band fronted by Danny McTague and Elbow guitarist Mark Potter.

Finally Sunday will see New York ‘cave music’ sensations Moon Hooch, rock punk band False Heads and goth rock band 1st 1st.

As the festival steadily approaches, organisers are still appealing for help.

Event manager at The Met, Scarlet Ordish, says the festival needs ‘an army of volunteers’ to get the festival off the ground over the weekend.

She said: “We need an army of volunteers to help with all sorts of rewarding jobs including stewarding at the event, merchandise sales, backstage assistance, working in the ticket office, wristband exchange, flyering and promotion ahead of the event and litter picking.

“All volunteering is unpaid but you will receive two free festival one-day passes in return for a minimum of 12 hours volunteer work.” To take part email scarlet. ordish@themet.biz.
