A BROTHER and sister from Rawtenstall have met their TV hero thanks to their imaginative competition entries.

The two Mr Bloom super fan siblings from Rawtenstall met their children’s TV idol after winning a competition hosted by The Mall Blackburn as part of the Countryside Comes to Town Festival.

Grace Scanlon, who is eight and her three-yearold brother, Daniel, came first and third respectively in a competition to design their very own veggie characters.

Sarah the swimming Swede was the brainchild of Grace and her entry included live action pictures of the swede in a swimming pool.

Daniel, who arrived in a full Mr Bloom outfit including a snazzy straw hat, designed and made Pippa the Pepper, who loves paddling.

The creative duo were interviewed by Mr Bloom’s friends on stage in front of hundreds of families, before being whisked off to go behind the scenes with the CBeebies TV favourite for an exclusive meet and greet.

Mum, Janine, said: “It has been an absolutely fantastic day and the children are delighted to have met their hero!

“As soon as we heard about the competition Grace and Daniel started planning their entries and we had great fun making them together.

“Mr Bloom was brilliant and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved.”
