WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

RESTAURANT plans approved by Rossendale council (‘Go ahead given for McDonald’s, July 22) Vicky Pegg: Really annoyed! Absolutely no mention of easing the existing congestion in the this area that has been causing misery for years, and now it’s going to get worse! Another big thumbs down to the decision makers in the offices, I would say town hall but they couldn’t even maintain that. Worzel Andrew Christian: Let in a multinational company and it opens doors for others to invest. I do not see any issue with it, Rawtenstall is not London so as for traffic it’s busy at tea time and mornings. It’s like that now so can’t really blame them for passing the application it makes sense for the town’s structure. Gail Elsworth: As for the traffic issue, there used to be a busy college on the land, that managed okay, folk did drive cars way back then. Personally I can’t wait, won’t need to leave the Valley soon. I also shop at the local shops and market, even more so now with the Marks and Spencer opening. Dami Agunbiade: McDonalds would be a good company to invest in the area. I’m sure they will find a way to keep the traffic levels down but also it will increase the jobs available to the locals there too, let them do their thing. They will probably be really popular when they open. Lee Corless: I couldn’t be more angry at this. It’s appalling. We don’t need a McDonalds. We need a KFC! I’m sick of having to drive to Burnley for chicken.

NEW 30-mile radius for hackney cabs slammed by taxi boss (‘Taxi boss slams 30-mile limit’, July 22) Dave Haworth: They should make it so that the only way you can have a taxi licence is to live in Rossendale permanently. Jean Gillat: We need far more stringent checks on all the taxi people who are always at Bacup Futures Park. They cannot all be from Rossendale. So we should ask why taxi drivers come to Bacup for licences? Nathan McLean: Is it really difficult to make taxi drivers actually work in the borough where they apply for their licence, based on an estimated demand for such a service, as well as ensuring that the drivers live in the borough? Lynton Green: Is this preventing Rossendale cabbies working outside the valley? Or preventing cabbies from further afield being registered in Rossendale? Glenn Bulcock: Rossendale borough council have currently licensing 6,000 taxis, 300 of wich are from Rossendale. The rest from the length and breadth of the country. What do Rossendale taxi drivers get back? Nothing. No ranks to run from, more rules and regulations imposed on us so they can try to control out of town drivers but impedes us. There is a big noise waiting to happen because local drivers have had enough.
