Charity helps get boxing club off ropes
COACHES and children at a boxing club were delighted to receive new equipment from a local children’s charity following a break in.
Cash was stolen and equipment damaged and thrown into the river following the burglary at Love Boxing in Waterfoot in May this year.
The club was targeted by offenders who smashed their way in through a fire escape door. Once inside they broke into the kitchen and officer area before taking or damaging around 10 pairs of boxing gloves worth £500 and body armour. They also stole between £30 and £50 in cash.
Two students from the club Hanna and George Parrot approached Kids in Rossendale and wrote them a letter explaining that their coach Pat Connellan and all of the children had been left very upset by the incident.
Pat said: “We would like to say a big thank to Louise Cooper and Janet Wilmot for coming to the gym to present the gloves and pads.”
The Love Boxing club is a non profit communal gym that gives young boys and girls a safe place to exercise.
