CASES heard at Burnley Magistrate­s:

JAMES O’Neill, 63, of Rossendale Crescent, Bacup, pleaded guilty to two counts of speeding. He was fined £80 with six points on his licence.

THOMAS David Steeple, 32, of Clapgate Road, Rochdale, pleaded guilty to using a car without insurance in Rawtenstal­l. He was given an absolute discharge.

DAVID Abdul Gani, 35, of Greenlees Street, Rochdale, pleaded guilty to shopliftin­g from Coop in Whitworth and while subject to a suspended sentence order. He was given a 12-month community order with a 20-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t and ordered to pay £85 costs.

MARIA Marcela Fernandes Caroto Freitas, 51, of Haslingden Road, Rawtenstal­l, pleaded guilty to failing to give informatio­n relating to the identifica­tion of a driver to police. She was fined £240, ordered to pay £85 costs with six points on her licence.

SHELLY Ann Cooban, 36, of Wales Road, Waterfoot, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requiremen­ts of a community order. She was given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £50 costs.

PETER Vale, 38, of Thorn Bank, Bacup, pleaded guilty to harassment. He was given a 12-month community order with a 25-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t, a two-year restrainin­g order, fined £50 and ordered to pay £100 compensati­on and £90 costs.

PETER Balmain, 40, of Cutler Crescent, Bacup, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requiremen­ts of a community order. His order was varied to include a five-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t.

ASHLEY Peter Marsden, 26, of Bacup Road, Cloughfold, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requiremen­ts of a community order. His order was varied to include a two-week curfew requiremen­t.

KEIRON Neil Lunt, 38, of Cairo Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to drink driving in Haslingden. He was fined £255, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualifi­ed from driving for 16 months, reduced by 16 weeks if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

SIMON John Walmsley, 41, of Broadway, Helmshore, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
