Keeper Morgan signs pro deal at Carlisle
MORGAN Bacon has signed his first professional contract with Carlisle United Football Club.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper has impressed since joining the club’s academy in 2015, having already been named in the first team squad on six occasions. a number of clean sheets in all competitions.
He also had a short loan spell at Penrith AFC, gaining valuable experience of playing first team football.
Prior to signing for Carlisle’s youth team in 2015, Morgan attracted the attention of a number of professional clubs with impressive performances for his previous club Bury FC and Lancashire U16s Schoolboys, where he helped his team reach the quarter final of the English Schools Football Association Cup.
Upon signing his deal at Brunton Park, Morgan said, “I am really proud to sign for Carlisle.
“This is my dream come true. However, I realise this is only the start of my journey and I’m determined to continue to work hard to develop all aspects of my game and hopefully put myself in contention for a regular ●● Morgan Bacon has penned his first professional contract first team spot next season.”
Blues’ Academy Manager Darren Edmondson said; “Morgan worked particularly hard through his two year scholarship and earned the right to be given the chance to take the next step.
“He’s keen to learn and progress and he has shown a willingness to listen and to focus completely on the job at hand”
“I was delighted for him when we received his offer but I’ve reminded him that the hard work starts now. It’s over to him now but, if he does what we think he can do, this could be the start of a good journey for him.”
Morgan’s mother Andrea Hoole said she and her family are so proud of Morgan.
“He has grown into a wonderful young man and the experiences he has taken from the football world have just made him more determine to succeed,” she said.
“We have been right behind him and continue to support him every step of the way. He has worked so hard to get to where he is today. He deserves this opportunity more than ever.”
