●● NEW TV drama looks back on Sophie Lancaster’s murder - 10 years on. Murdered For Being Different has been made by the same team behind Bafta winning Murdered By My Father (website and page 11).

Scott Mayers: Such a shame, both Robert and Sophie were a quiet couple. Kept themselves to themselves. I would often see them a gigs I played at with my old band up at Bacup footie club.

Jodie Fairfax: I’ve just moved to Bacup. My family relocated here 2 years ago. I am of the alternative persuasion, I have worn my S.O.P.H.I.E. wristbands for years. I couldn’t believe it when I found out that the attack on Sophie and Robert was here in Bacup. Yes there’s an element of crime here but it seems such a lovely town. I watched the documentary and it literally moved me to tears. That could have happened to me or any of my friends. I loved what Sophie’s friend Stacey said at the end, that some people were destined to be more... the move to stamp out hate crimes of all kinds is her legacy. X

Lisa Richmond: Disgusting behaviour, so sad and once again BACUP. There is still people that let Bacup down unfortunately.

Steph Harrison: This is probably what we saw when they were filming on our street and up at borough. Casee Malakian Leigh: As someone who has

experienced violence for being different and a rock chick, I feel so much for Sophie’s family x Rest in peace angel x Corinne Corbyn: Can’t believe it’s been ten years! #CelebrateDifference

Nicola Lancashire: It’s nice to see something from Rob’s perspective, after all this time.

Bret Bolton: Broadcasters get a lot of mileage out of other’s misery. Jackie Jackster Smith: Also raise awareness.

Christine Haworth: So so sad, uncalled for, senseless.

●● HAIR salon filled with smoke after second ‘nuisance fire’ in months. Spectrum One was forced to temporarily shut for deep cleaning after a fire to the rear of the salon (website and July 2)

Janet O’Driscoll: Awful. I hope the police find whoever is responsible for the fire. Spectrum 1 is such a lovely salon and a credit to the business community in Haslingden. Stacey Brailsford: Businesses trying to make something of Haslingden High Street where people actually want to visit and this is what people do?! Pretty much sums them right up!

William Butler: Hopefully the perpetrators will be caught, maybe it might be a wise idea to put CCTV at the back of the premises so that you can view any suspicious activity.

Katy Grimshaw: We did it got kicked off the wall... it’s going back up now xx

Lucy Sagar: Scumbags, why would someone do this? Horrible little cretins!

Laura Redfearn: Just horrible that people will do this. Running a business is hard enough without people doing things to make it harder. Hope they get it sorted quickly. Not good for the business or Haslingden in general that this is happening.

Rachel Parker: Just shows how low some people are! Clearly jealous of the salon’s success.

●● COMMUNITY garden blooming thanks to funding help. Newchurch Village Community Association

has thanked everyone involved in the project (website and June 9)

Elizabeth Abbott: I used to go into the ‘little park’ as we called it when I was growing up on Staghills, many moons ago, great to see it is being looked after. Janet Newman: Ahhhhh, the ‘Little Park’ spent many a happy hour in there in the 60s. Marlene Coppack: The little park!!! Spent many happy times when I was growing up in Newchurch. Glynis Ablott: Aww cute.
