Police officer charged with drug offences
TWO police constables from an elite unit have been charged with being involved in dealing Class A drugs.
PCs Adam Jackson, of Tong Lane, Bacup, and Kerry Reeve, of Middleton, are due to appear in court later this month, along with three others, following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police’s anti-corruption unit.
John Pounder, of Cedar Avenue, Haslingden, Daniel Wade, 35, of Laneside Road, Haslingden, and Callam Wood, 37, of Catlow Hall Street, Oswaldtwistle have all been charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
Mr Pounder, 30, has also been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
Both officers, both aged 35, have been suspended from duty since their arrest in February this year.
The Tactical Aid Unit is a small division of GMP featuring about 70 officers who are specialists in dealing with riots and other disturbances.
Police said that two of its officers were now being charged.
PC Jackson has been charged with encouraging/assisting in the commission of supplying Class A drugs and two counts of possession of a class A drug.
PC Reeve, of Barratt Gardens, has been charged with encouraging/assisting in the commission of supplying Class A drugs, possession of a Class A drug and possession of a Class B drug.
All five are due to appear before Manchester and Salford magistrates court on July 26.
