ELLEN Talbot, of Lord Avenue, Stackstead­s, died on Saturday, July 15, aged 89.

She was a cotton mill worker who loved her family and her cat Tiddles.

She leaves her children Tony, Sheila, Maureen, Allan, Colin and Paula.

A message to Ellen from her family: “Miss you always. Words cannot express the loss of such a wonderful, caring, loving mum, grandma, greatgrand­ma and great, great-grandma.”

Prayers at the Chapel of Rest, conducted by the Rev Philip Norris, were held on Tuesday, July 25 at the funeral home, followed by service and cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m.

Nathaniel and Logan, father John and his wife Elaine, her brothers Barrie and Martin and her many close friends and family.

MARY CANNON

MRS Mary Cannon, formerly of Venture Street, Bacup and Greenbrook House, Whitworth, died peacefully in Highfield Hall, Haslingden, on Saturday, July 22, aged 91.

Requiem Mass will be held at St Mary and St Anselm’s RC, Bacup, on Monday, July 31 at 12noon. This will be followed by interment in Bacup Cemetery at 1.30pm concelebra­ted by her son Father Paul Cannon and Father Frank Thorpe.

Born in Bacup, she lived in Britannia until her marriage, living in Bacup until moving to Whitworth in 2010.

She was employed at Lancashire Sock Co and John Maden & Sons until her retirement.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and being with her loving family. A lifelong active parishione­r of St Mary’s RC, Bacup, she was a member of the choir, a sacristan for many years and, behind the scenes, a member of St Mary’s Players. She also went on trips to Lourdes.

She was the wife of the late John, who died six years ago.

She leaves daughter Margaret and her husband Tony, son Paul, grandchild­ren Claire and her husband Danny, Paul and his wife Laura, great-grandchild­ren Thomas and Charlotte, nephews and nieces, and many friends. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to Rossendale Hospice if so desired.

ANNIE HIGGINSON

MRS Annie Higginson, formerly of Burnley Road, Bacup and latterly of Carrwood Hey, Ramsbottom, died peacefully in North Manchester General Hospital on Tuesday, July 18, aged 89.

A service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, Bacup, on Tuesday, August 1 at 11am, followed by cremation at Burnley at 12noon, conducted by the Rev David Livermore.

Annie was born in Bacup, where she lived all of her life.

She was employed at E Sutton & Sons as a secretary, then became a JP until retiring.

She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, knitting, her charity work and was a lifelong season ticket holder at Burnley Football Club. She was the widow of the late Bill and mother of the late Peter.

She leaves son Michael and his wife Pat, grandchild­ren Michael and Katharine, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Family flowers only with donations in lieu to Cancer Research Bacup, if so desired.

GEORGE STOTT

MR George Stott died on Thursday, July 20, aged 88.

George worked for British Rail when he was younger, then went on to work as a driver for Charlie Bradley’s Builders, then at John Noble, Rochdale, and finally for Fairfield’s at Waterfoot, where he retired due to ill health.

He played football when he was younger and enjoyed holidays with his wife Margaret to Malta and the former Yugoslavia.

They had a holiday of a lifetime to America visiting Nevada, San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

He was a member of Bacup Cricket Club when he was younger and was also a member of Rawtenstal­l Cricket Club.

He leaves his wife Margaret, they had been married for 57 and a half years.

Margaret would like to thank Macmillan Nurses, the night staff from the Majestic at Burnley, and the district nurses and doctors at St James Medical Centre.

Prayers at St James Street Chapel of Rest will be held on Thursday, August 3 at 1pm with a service at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 1.40pm conducted by the Rev Chris Casey. Flowers are welcome. Funeral director: Fred Hamer Funeral Service. James Street.

MARK BARCROFT

MR Mark Barcroft, of Sunnybank House, Helmshore, died on Saturday, July 15, aged 54.

He was a senior account manager at Computacen­ter.

He loved Blackburn Rovers FC, current affairs, travel, walking, music, sports and socialisin­g with friends and family.

He leaves his partner Sharon and children Nicola, Abbey and Rob.

His funeral service, conducted by David Ireland, followed by his cremation, was due to be held on Thursday, July 27 at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 11.20am.

Family flowers only with donations to British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK or Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.
