ROSSENDALE REVEALED
BARRY Hyde, member of the Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board takes a closer look at the M3 Project:
THE M3 Project is a specialist charity that can help with advice, support and accommodation for people aged 16 – 25 years.
It provides supported lodgings accommodation for single people and supported properties for young parents and their families. This accommodation is available in Rossendale, Burnley and Hyndburn, with volunteer householders who offer rooms in their own homes along with support for the young person.
The accommodation is offered for up to two years and includes support to develop day-to-day life skills, leading to greater independence and the ability to take control of your own life and, when ready, provide young people with the support they may require in their transition to their own independent accommodation.
The M3 team is eight in number and drawn from a range of backgrounds and disciplines. Based at their office in Rawtenstall they operate throughout East Lancashire, supporting their volunteer households, young people and young families.
The Teenage Family Project currently supports up to eight units of families aged 16-25 years along with their families across East Lancashire.
The units are leased out as fully furnished and equipped dependant upon the needs of the family. All placements are Health and Safety checked.
Individuals engage on the resettlement project for approximately 12–18 months, during which time regular home visits are conducted to monitor progress and advise and guide accordingly.
The Senior Project Worker will engage and attend arranged appointments to advocate for and support individuals.
The M3 Teenage Family Project also works closely with PCT professionals and Sure Start Centres to ensure that young people are engaging with child development services so that their welfare is monitored by the relevant services. For further information, check out the website at www.rossendalem3.org
