CENTRAL METHODIST LADIES FELLOWSHIP

-

AT their latest meeting, the ladies of Central Methodist Church were taken through east Lancashire, courtesy of local photographer Chris Speak, of Waterfoot.

Once a postman, Chris has no trouble with an early start, and this is the time he has captured some of his best photos.

He told, through his many slides, how the light, angles, correct times of day and various seasons, added to the overall feelings the picture gave out.

A focal point could be a triangle to develop a picture, also shadows, mists, early frost on the trees and the importance of the effect of smoke to create atmosphere.

Chris, a member of Todmorden Photographic Society, showed that it is not just pointing the camera, and clicking a button, but to take time, and get everything right for the best possible results.

From scenes near home, through the Ribble Valley and ending in Haworth, Chris gave an enjoyable and informative presentation.

There will be no meeting on Tuesday, March 20 as there will be work going on in the church.

The ladies, though, will still be busy helping other church members with the Spring Fair to be held on Saturday, March 17.

As it is St Patrick’s Day there will be an Irish theme at the fair, with stalls, lunches and a visit from the local scouts band.
