Health vis­i­tor named an NHS ‘shin­ing star’

A HEALTH vis­i­tor is cel­e­brat­ing af­ter be­ing named Lan­cashire Care NHS Foun­da­tion Trust’s Shin­ing Star of the Year.

Emma Carey, from Rawten­stall, was nom­i­nated for the com­pas­sion­ate man­ner in which she works to im­prove the health and well­be­ing of fam­i­lies.

The mum-of-three, 35, said she was ‘over­whelmed’ with the award, say­ing: “My job as a health vis­i­tor is some­thing I am pas­sion­ate about and I felt very touched that my col­leagues nom­i­nated me. I work with an amaz­ing team who al­ways en­cour­age each other and sup­port each other.”

Emma, who is mar­ried to Dave, works in the Burnley and Bri­er­field ar­eas.

Sarah Wright, deputy head of op­er­a­tions for the chil­dren and well­be­ing net­work at Lan­cashire Care, said she has been the driv­ing force be­hind a new Staff Sup­port Net­work to help staff over­come dif­fi­cult or ad­verse ex­pe­ri­ences. She said: “Emma has worked hard in set­ting up this ser­vice. This means that clin­i­cal staff are now in place to of­fer their time, ex­per­tise and guid­ance to sup­port any­one that has ex­pe­ri­enced a dif­fi­cult event.”
