Hip-hop team dance into world con­test

A VAL­LEY hip-hop dance team have been re­warded with the chance to per­form at Dis­ney­land af­ter their tri­umph in a Bri­tish com­pe­ti­tion.

The stel­lar per­for­mance by ‘Tenac­ity’ at the Na­tional Bri­tish Open Cham­pi­onships in Not­ting­ham earned them the chance to en­ter the world cham­pi­onships.

The team are coached by Fayhe-Louise Mitchell and, while they have no per­ma­nent home, the team of­ten train at Fayhe’s former school, Fearns.

Fayhe, 27, said her team were ded­i­cated and of­ten re­turn home from univer­sity to train.

She added: “The qual­ity of per­for­mances were out­stand­ing.

“We have al­ways said as long as we exit the floor know­ing we’ve given all our ef­forts and there was noth­ing else we could have done then we are happy re­gard­less of wher­ever we end up plac­ing and scor­ing.

“They have worked so hard and have been so com­mit­ted since we be­gan in Septem­ber 2016.”

En­try into the world cham­pi­onships in Florida is only par­tially-funded, so the team are look­ing for spon­sors to help them.
