Maths stars go top of class
A VALLEY primary school has been ranked in the top one percent in the country for maths.
Staff and pupils at Edenfield Church of England Primary School are celebrating their success in their Key Stage Two exams.
The school received a letter from the Nick Gibb MP, the minister of state for school standards, congratulating the school on its superb achieve- ment.
The school was praised for its outstanding results in maths, where 100pc of pupils achieved the expected standard, while 45 per cent achieved the higher standard.
Charlotte Garner, headteacher, said the letter reflected the high standard of teaching.
She said: “The letter was a wonderful surprise and I am delighted that the efforts of the staff and pupils have been recognised.
“The staff at Edenfield are very dedicated and work tirelessly to support each and every pupil across the whole curriculum.
“Congratulations must also go to our pupils, past and present, who consistently demonstrate superb behaviour for learning; we are privileged to work with such wonderful children.”
Edenfield’s current Year Six class, who are now preparing for their own Key Stage 2 assessments.
