Maths stars go top of class

A VAL­LEY pri­mary school has been ranked in the top one per­cent in the coun­try for maths.

Staff and pupils at Eden­field Church of Eng­land Pri­mary School are cel­e­brat­ing their suc­cess in their Key Stage Two ex­ams.

The school re­ceived a let­ter from the Nick Gibb MP, the min­is­ter of state for school stan­dards, con­grat­u­lat­ing the school on its su­perb achieve- ment.

The school was praised for its out­stand­ing re­sults in maths, where 100pc of pupils achieved the ex­pected stan­dard, while 45 per cent achieved the higher stan­dard.

Char­lotte Gar­ner, head­teacher, said the let­ter re­flected the high stan­dard of teach­ing.

She said: “The let­ter was a won­der­ful sur­prise and I am de­lighted that the ef­forts of the staff and pupils have been recog­nised.

“The staff at Eden­field are very ded­i­cated and work tire­lessly to sup­port each and ev­ery pupil across the whole cur­ricu­lum.

“Con­grat­u­la­tions must also go to our pupils, past and present, who con­sis­tently demon­strate su­perb be­hav­iour for learn­ing; we are priv­i­leged to work with such won­der­ful chil­dren.”

Eden­field’s cur­rent Year Six class, who are now pre­par­ing for their own Key Stage 2 as­sess­ments.
