WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

MCDONALD’S clarified its litter picking policy following Rawtenstall complaint (‘We pick up ALL the rubbish around us’ insist burger giants’, August 10) Emma Triplow: I see them out every day from 8am picking litter. Maybe if we educate people not to drop it in the first place there wouldn’t be an issue!? Andy Coulton: Do you see any other business’ picking up any litter? They are not duty bound to do it and should be applauded for being proactive and reactive when needed. Paul Coppack: So only one unnamed person was critical Marion Durkin: Hope they get as far as the playground on Fallbarn Crescent. I litter pick here when walking the dog. Three litter bins but people still don’t use them. Sandra Healey: I see more wrappers from other takeaways on Saturday morning at 7.30 than Mcdonald’s, so leave them be. Doing a great job Dawn Jim Rowe: So does the person criticising go out regularly to pick up other people’s litter. Have to agree with everyone, don’t drop it in the first place Anthony Matthews: The Macs staff do a great job!! Roy Stephenson: Thank you McDonald’s for litter picking. Marlene Fell: It’s kids going to school and coming home, they have no respect Abdul Mannan: I probably see more adults littering streets than kids, people chucking things out of cars whilst driving! People need to develop more pride for their community and country, would people throw litter randomly in their own homes? Parents and guardians need to teach their young ones more respect and pride. Abdul Mannan: In Singapore you get fined 50 dollars if you throw litter or gum, it is well enforced as well. The place is so clean, you can eat on the roads.
