MR Peter Gilbertson, of Bacup, died at home with his wife at his side, on Tuesday, August 14, aged 51.

He leaves his wife of 19 years Julie, son Connor, stepson Simon, sister MR David Simmons, of Woodlea Road, Waterfoot, died at Ashlands Nursing Home, on Wednesday, August 15, aged 70.

He was a self-employed plumber and enjoyed bowling, going abroad, darts and dominoes.

David was a lifelong Burnley supporter as well as being a member of the Edgeside and Gaghills Bowling Club.

He was husband to the late Ann. He had a loving family: son Mark, partner Vicki, grandson Cayden, daughter Sharon, grandchild­ren Amy, IAN Parker, of Naze Court, Newchurch, died at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Sunday, August 19, aged 68.

Ian was a retired footwear market trader who enjoyed travelling, supporting Manchester United, holidays and socialisin­g with friends.

He leaves his three daughters Julie, Sarah and Nicola, and Bernadette the mother of the three girls.

He also leaves grandchild­ren Adam, Billy and Jackson, brother Alan and sister-in-law Maureen and nieces and nephews and many friends and lifelong pals Michael and Catherine.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August BERTHA Lord, of Haslingden Hall and Lodge, died at home on Wednesday, August 15, aged 96.

Bertha worked at JH Hirst Waterfoot until her retirement. She loved dancing, writing poems, reading and shopping.

She was married to the late Francis Thomas Lord. Bertha had two daughters Sandra and Alison, a son Stephen, eight grandchild­ren, eight great grandchild­ren and four great great grandchild­ren.

The funeral service was due to be held on Thursday, August 23 at 2.15pm at the Fred Hamers chapel of rest, followed by the cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 3pm. Family flowers only, donations if desired to the Royal British Legion.

WILLIAM JENNINGS

MR William Jennings, of Rawsthorne Avenue, Haslingden, died on Monday, August 13, at Royal Blackburn, aged 82.

He was the twin brother of the late Margaret and brother of the late Andy.

He leaves his wife Dorothy, daughters Susan and Diane, son-in-law Fred and Grant, grandchild­ren William, Nathan, George, Joseph, Grace and Thomas, sister in law Margaret, Ronnie, nieces and nephews, and special life long friends.

William was a time served plumber working with Ashworth and Hobson of Rawtenstal­l for a number of years, retiring from Rossendale General where he was a porter.

He was a member of St James Parish Church, Haslingden, where, in his youth, he was a member of the Boys Brigade and also at one time the verger and grave digger.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday, August 29, with service at St James Parish Church at 1.30pm, followed by interment at Haslingden Cemetery officiated by the Rev David Stephenson.

Family flowers only and donations if desired to The North West Air Ambulance.

MAUREEN RYAN

MISS Maureen Ryan, formerly of Park Street, Burnley, died on Friday, August 10, at Royal Blackburn, aged 70.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas (Tom) and Margaret (Maggie) and step-daughter of James.

She leaves her brother Michael, sister-in-law Eileen, nieces and nephews, and greatniece­s and greatnephe­ws.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 28, at 11am with Requiem Mass MR James Spencer – known as Jim – of Newchurch, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 79.

He was a former coal miner and retired sales director of K Steels and enjoyed playing Crown Green bowls.

He leaves his wife Annie, sons Antony and Philip, daughters-in-law Dot and Suzanne, granddaugh­ter Jade, grandsons Jack and Ashley, great-grandson James, brother Geoffrey and sisters Jean and Ruth, together with nephews and nieces.

A short service was held on Monday, August 20, at the Chapel of Rest on James Street, followed by a service and cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m, conducted by David Ireland.
