Heffron to fight for title at Arena

-

BY SHELDAN KEAY MARK Heffron will challenge for the British middleweight title at the Manchester Arena on December 22.

Heffron was set to face defending champion Jason Welborn, but he has vacated and the 26-yearold will challenge for the vacant belt.

“Jason Welborn has pulled out of our fight in December, but the good news is that he has vacated the belt so that means I will still be fighting for it,” he said.

“A new opponent will be named in the next few days I want to thank Jason for vacating rather then messing around and pulling out close to the fight. I wish him all the best with his future.

“I’ve always known I am good enough to be fighting at this level even before I turned professional. I will be training hard and I am very confident I can win. I have a lot of confidence in my own ability and my punching power. I’ll be training for a twelve-round fight, but I know this is going to be a knockout victory.”

In the main event of the bill, IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington takes on former two-time world champion Carl Frampton.

Also on the undercard is a light-middleweight domestic battle for the WBC International title as JJ Metcalf takes on Liam Williams.

Tickets are from £50 to £400, while inner ring VIP are £600 available via Eventim and Ticketmaster.
