POPPY TRAIL TAKING SHAPE
I AM pleased to announce the Rossendale Centenary Poppy Trail is nearing completion.
My thanks go to the Whitworth Centenary committee for their work in Whitworth.
Thanks to members of Bacup Rotary Club who organised a drive to encourage residents and local businesses of Bacup, Weir and Stacksteads to sponsor Centenary Poppies that would have the names of all the men from the area who died during the First World War printed on them with the sponsor’s name on the opposite side and the mounted on lamp posts, among the sponsors are Jake Berry MP and Gavin Williamson CBE MP, Secretary of State for Defence.
Thanks also to Bacup Rotary who financed the printing.
The Waterfoot, Rawtenstall and Crawshawbooth initiative is being led by Janet King and Christine Moffat.
The combined efforts have raised in excess of £9,000 for the Royal British Legion. Hazel Steen Poppy Appeal Organiser, Bacup and Rawtenstall
